A group of startup founders and investors recently helped The Sunday Times select ten British fintech start-ups to watch, covering everything from compliance automation to digital mortgage lending.
Many of the current crop of promising fintechs are built around a niche. Fronted, which was created in partnership with Elmwood, finances private tenants’ rental deposits directly. It offers a cheaper alternative to payday loans and credit cards, and uses open banking to assess applications for its loans, which have a fixed 12.5 per cent interest rate and a one-year term, with no penalty for early repayment. This company is considered the next generation in fintech and was recognized as a 2021 Top Ten Fintech Start-up to Watch.
