Christian Bird, our Associate Creative Director, is running a little personal project with the aim of designing a sketchbook. Got 2 minutes spare? Take his online survey on proportional preference by clicking here.
A little background from Christian:
In 1876 German Psychologist Gustav Fechner investigated the human response to the aesthetic qualities of rectangular proportions. Fechner’s focus was man-made proportions including books, boxes, buildings. He found evidence of a cross-cultural preference.
Since 1876, our cultures and environments have evolved – so too, perhaps our proportional preferences. I am a designer who wants to understand this preference in both Landscape and Portrait formats, specifically for generating sketches on paper.
