Celebrating Leeds’ creativity with arts and music showcase
Last week Elmwood celebrated talented Leeds-based artists and the city’s creative future with a mixed media showcase at its Leeds studio. Uprise featured artists including Ian Kirkpatrick, David Sowerby, Marnie Simpson, David Ferguson & Griet Beyaert, Paul Miller & Alicja Mrozowska, Liam Oades, Three Create, Mojo Film, & Studio 12.
There was also music by Luna Pines, the Leeds-based electronic/alternative band.
Wander Bruijel, Marketing Director at Elmwood, said: “We’ve got a bit of a healthy chip on our shoulder about Leeds sometimes. It’s a little known fact that Leeds is a leading hub of culture, technology and innovation. We’re a world gamma city where tech and creativity come together, and where the creative industries are fast expanding. Moreover, it’s the region where we grew up and where our worldwide business has its roots. Uprise goes back to those roots. It’s a movement created by our Leeds-based team of world-class designers who wanted to celebrate and showcase the local creative talent that Leeds has to offer. It was amazing to welcome these local artists into our space and to champion their work.”
