Jodone haven’t wasted a chance to make work more fun. The software company believe that the gamification of processes is the best way to improve costs and working conditions. For starters, they’ve created a programme that makes a game out of sorting out recycling.
Workers (or players) watch on screen waste moving down a conveyer belt, and select the items that are suitable for recycling. Their decision is then wirelessly sent to a robot in a waste plant, that picks out and sorts the corresponding pieces.
The programme can be used with industry standard robots from several suppliers. It’s currently being tested out in a waste-to-energy facility in Minnesota, where it’s thought the programme could reach a high score and help generate around $34M in additional revenue. Talk about a rubbish idea.
