You can feel pretty hard done by when all you want for Christmas is some pigs in blankets, and only the smoked salmon canapés are on offer. But this year, instead of asking Santa for savings, you can tweet Lidl.
For two days a week, the retailer has invited shoppers to tweet about an item they’d like. The one with the most tweets, gets its price dropped.
So far we’ve seen shoppers ecstatically taking selfies with their £5.99 Christmas lobsters. It may not be a Christmas miracle, but the campaign is a clever way of spreading some cheer and getting people interacting with the brand.
