Now this is cheeky. Volvo had a problem – the car manufacturer wasn’t particularly well known for their diesel vehicles within Brazil.
What did they do? They found people who were test driving rival diesel models, and drove in front of them in a brand new Volvo XC60 – that happened to be kitted out with a LED screen in the rear window. Talk about an effective way of putting your brand ‘in front’ of your target audience…
Throughout the test drive, the LED screen flashed up information about the new Volvo, before inviting the car behind to honk twice if they wanted to test drive the Volvo next. (Awkward for the BMW sales rep in the passenger seat).
Those who opted in were picked up in the Volvo from outside the competitor’s dealership. And the whole thing was filmed. We guess all is fair in love and cars.
