And with water the driving force of all nature, it makes sense that Central Saint Martins graduate Jaime Tai should look to nature too, in an effort to solve this environmental issue.
Trehalose is a natural sugar that protects cells from dehydration, found in organisms that live in extreme conditions. And using the same qualities of this little sugar, Tai has gone on to create TretSk1n, a range of micro-encapsulated clothing and skincare products to aid survival in drought. Pretty sweet thinking eh?
