From Jawbones to Fitbit, we’ve seen sport enhanced by technology. The latest, is a sweat patch that tells you when to take a drink – incase you struggled knowing when you were thirsty.
Sports drink brand, Gatorade, have developed two new objects as part of their Fuel Lab initiative. A battery-powered, disposable, sweat patch tracks sodium loss on your forearm and monitors your sweat and electrolyte levels. While a bottle cap, fitted with a microchip monitors your hydration levels, which you can see on the Gatorade Hydration app.
Gatorade, alongside the Sports Science Institute, has also developed new formulas and an algorithm that enables them to offer nutritional advice. The 12 formulas provide the optimum amount of carbs, calories and electrolytes based on your ‘sweat type’. We’ll leave you to sweat that one out.
