Over in Italy, it’s pretty common to keep religious icons on the dashboard of your car to help you feel safe. While the thought is nice, the trinkets do little to protect drivers from today’s distractions. It turns out that 20% of Italians use their phones on the roads – and when you text and drive, you’re four times more likely to crash.
In light of this, insurance company Groupama teamed up with Saatchi & Saatchi Rome, to come up with a way of getting people to leave their phones alone.
The Santino Safety System fits onto your dashboard and interacts with your phone to disable notifications – allowing you to focus on the road. What’s more, if someone rings or texts, the system will reply saying you’re busy behind the wheel. Talk about a miraculous solution.
