The great reward of landing a window seat is that you get to gaze out at the great white towers of cumulonimbus. Too bad if you’re sat in the aisle then. But now, thanks to Dutch artist Dan Roosegarde, you can enjoy the spectacle of the open sky before you even board your flight.
With a permanent installation at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, Roosegarde has recreated the impression of a cloud-studded expanse of sky. It’s more than just a mural though. Working with a group of digital image-makers, the 100m wall uses embedded LED to create depth and movement.
Titled Beyond, the installation can be viewed in Departure Hall 3 at Schiphol. No seat booking required.
