Costa creates space to encourage customers to talk to each other…
According to its own research, UK coffee chain Costa found that 75% of respondents wanted more human interaction with their regular coffee fix. So, the company has announced plans to introduce Chatty Café spaces in 300 of its coffee shops in a bid to get people talking again. The scheme works by marking out areas as hubs for conversation. Customers are invited to sit at designated ‘Chatter & Natter’ tables if they’re open to chatting with other people seated nearby. It’s a simple idea but one which Costa hopes will help slow the migration of younger customers away from the larger coffee chains, and positively impact on the wider social issue of loneliness in the community.
