Natural. Low-fat. Organic. Greek-style. Swiss. Thick and creamy. With layers of fruit. And crunchy bits in the corner. In squeezy tubes… You’d be forgiven for thinking there was nowhere left for the yoghurt market to go. But you’d be wrong.
A new brand called The Epic Seed has just launched in the US, containing the latest health food fad: chia seeds. These ancient seeds were a favourite of the Mayans, and add the omega-3 and fibre that plain yoghurt lacks.
According to the hand-drawn illustrations on the packaging, the yoghurts contain the equivalent protein to three eggs, more omega-3 oils than a portion of salmon and more fibre than an apple. Question is, what do they actually taste of?
