It was only a matter of time before IKEA started selling bikes. The flat pack champions are heading towards a circular system that invites people to repair or recycle, rather than replace. In line with this, they’re launching Sladda – a lightweight bike that’s perfect for city dwellers.
Designed in collaboration with Swedish design company Veryday, Sladda uses a corrosion-resistant cogged drive belt, rather than a chain. It’s hoped that the belt will last for just over 9,000 miles. You can buy accessories for Sladda, such as a rack or bag, from Ikea too.
You can hop on your environmentally friendly bike from August.
