One steak burrito, three chicken tacos, a veggie fajita, a large side of superlatives, and extra compound adjectives. To eat in. Please. Words are indeed on the menu at branches of US fast food chain Chipotle. Well, on the packaging at least. (Word up, Maia.)
Cups and bags will now feature a range of original short stories written by the likes of Toni Morrison, George Saunders, Malcolm Gladwell, Michael Lewis, and Jonathan Safran Foer. In fact it was Foer himself who came up with the idea, after finding himself stuck in Chipotle without anything to read (and presumably no 3G connection either).
Foer emailed his idea to Chipotle CEO Steve Ells, and was then tasked with selecting the authors to pen the 250-word yarns under the theme of ‘cultivating thought’.
Strangely, Foer is a vegetarian and has written extensively on the subject of ethical eating. Hopefully no one will make him eat his words.
