The Facebook ‘poke’ is no longer just a virtual gesture.
Designers Jasper van Loenen and Bartholomäus Traubeck have created a device that receives signals from an Android phone. When someone sends a poke on Facebook, the phone sends information to the device, which makes a small lever poke the user in the arm.
This project explores how a digital activity can be translated into a tangible experience. It might also make some Facebook users think twice about hitting the ‘poke’ button in future.
