Klout, the indicator of online influence, lets brands connect with their Facebook fans by handing out perks to those with the highest scores. For example, Universal Pictures invited entertainment influencers to an advance screening of The Adjustment Bureau.
Klout is based on the belief that companies can no longer simply judge each customer on the value of their lifetime spend. Every individual has a network value based on their ability to leverage word of mouth and social media to influence their network and spread the word about a product or service.
Klout’s website lets you see a full list of your Twitter followers and Facebook friends to compare who has the most online clout. There’s also a Klout Stars series, which highlights top scorers who share tips on how to increase your influence online.
