While many extreme sportswear brands claim to employ advanced technology, British outfit Vollebak has taken things just a bit further. According to their R&D team, they’ve applied insights from physiology, neuroscience, conceptual art and material technology to construct garments that influence athletes’ mental states as well as their physical performance.
The results look awesome (and slightly scary). The hoodie, for example, which cocoons the entire head and face, apparently to help sportsmen relax and conserve energy before or after endurance events. Or the Condition Black jacket with a ceramic skin that resists impact from falls and thermal pockets to protect vital organs from failure in extreme cold. Just the thing when you’re lost in Sainsbury’s car park.
