Supermarkets are getting smarter. With China leading the way – from a 10-day staff-free pop-up to facial recognition payment systems.
Chinese E-tailer JD.com is following in Amazon’s footsteps, by trialling 7Fresh – a bricks and mortar supermarket with smart shelves, smart signals and intelligent cameras.
Cashier-less creations are becoming a reality in China, with Bingobox, Suning, Tao Café and Yi Tunnel all going smart. Yi Tunnel is also offering facial recognition payments – but if you don’t want to pay using your face, you can still use WeChat or a credit card.
We’ll soon be able to go shopping with nothing but a smile.
