What would the Nordic Made in Chelsea be like, I hear you say? Well you don’t have to wait and wonder.
Norwegian TV series Skam follows a handful of teenage students, documenting the everyday dramas of school and home, with a side of schoolyard banter thrown in for good measure. Episodes vary in length and go live at the time of day the events actually occur. That’s right, if the scene takes place at midnight, it goes live at midnight!
Each character even has their own Instragram account, meaning viewers can interact directly with them. A fifth of Norway’s population tune in weekly to catch the realistically flawed lives of the social millennials.
To kill its Nordic charm, you’ll be pleased to know there’s a US remake in the pipeline called Shame… so watch this space.
