We’d all acknowledge the need to ease off the gas when driving near schools or nurseries. And we’ve all seen the warning signs. But Swedish agency Forsman & Bodenfors has come up with a more compelling way to alert drivers to the presence of children. Working with If Insurance, they’ve developed an app that switches the voice on your satnav to a child’s voice whenever you’re close to a school, nursery or other location where kids are likely to be around. Currently available in Sweden, Finland and Norway the launch version of the Slow Down app comes loaded with locations for all schools and day-care centres across the region, while parents can add more locations via the If Insurance website. Hopefully, for the safety of kids everywhere, there’ll be a rush to adopt the technology in other countries too.
