&Co, an Auckland-based boutique winery, has redesigned its packaging to make choosing a wine less intimidating.
&Co’s labels feature type that speaks to the customer, reminding them that wine needn’t be overcomplicated. (After all, wine is a beverage that’s been produced worldwide for at least 8,000 years.)
The typographic mix of serif, slab and light hints of sans serif adds character to the minimal black and white palette. Typefaces used include Bauer Bodoni, Gill Sans, Braggadocio, Black Slabbath and Century Schoolbook. The result is a compact communication of all sorts of information, from the number of cases produced to a special word from the winemaker.
&Co produces one type of wine for each season and focuses on locality and ethics.
