There’s nothing worse than turning up to work with a crippling hangover. When you can’t sleep it off, you tend to eat it off instead. Whether it’s a fry up or a pint of ice water, we all have our own ways of pulling through. (Great find from our party specialist Gemma).
In South Korea, home to some of Asia’s biggest party animals, the hangover market is worth $125 million per year. Most recently, a convenience store chain has launched an ice cream bar that gets rid of your hangover.
The Gyeondyo-bar, which roughly translates as ‘hang in there’, contains grapefruit flavoured ice cream and raisin tree juice extract, which has been considered a hangover aid since the 1600s.
There may be some proof that the pudding works too. In 2012 a study in the Journal of Neuroscience showed that raisin tree extracts reduced the effect of intoxication in rats. We’ll drink to that.
