Who remembers ‘choose your own adventure’ books? You read part of a story, choose which page to turn to next, and tailor the action every couple of pages. Well imagine that, but turbo-powered and turned into an app.
That’s what the BBC’s testing out with their new visual perceptive media platform. You answer some personality questions in the app. It analyses the data and creates a profile for you. And that shapes the narrative of the content.
So the action could change, the plot might favour one character over another and some scenes might be missing entirely. It could even affect the general appearance of the film, the colour grading and the soundtrack.
Right now, this data’s only generated through the mobile app. But in the future, this information could be collected by any number of services and respond to your mood in real-time. That way, there’ll always be something you’re in the mood for.
