When it comes to drinks parties, the non-alcoholic selection is usually fairly unimaginative. Tell the host you’re not boozing, and the bestcase scenario is that you get a bit of tonic with some ice and lemon. Worst case: a warm Diet Coke from the back of the cupboard.
Enter Seedlip, a non-alcoholic spirit, and an alternative to the usual carbonated drinks. Inspired by recipes from John French’s The Art of Distillation, it’s named after the traditional basket used to carry seeds. And it’s made from six mouth-watering botanicals: essence of American oak, Guatemalan cardamom, allspice, cascarilla bark, grapefruit and lemon peel.
Creator Ben Branson suggests serving it with tonic. But if, in the end, you decide that you fancy something stronger, Seedlip works just as well as a mixer. Oh go on then. Just a small one.
