The Tokyo Baby Café is a mother-and-baby shop, set to open in Japan, and has been designed to capture hearts and imaginations as well as wallets. The exaggerated size and scale of the interiors echo Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and everything in the space works for both adults and kids.
Floorboards and windows come in both adult and kid size, and there are even two sizes of lightbulbs. Door handles and light fittings are placed far above the reach of little fingers. The nursing sofa doubles as a playroom and diaper-changing table, and there are even paintings on the undersides of the tables. There are private rooms as well as public spaces, and the cafe is filled with toys and picture books, with plenty of space for manoeuvering prams and strollers.
All that’s missing are drinks and cakes labeled ‘Drink me’ and ‘Eat me’.
