Imagine a world where you can wirelessly connect all your electronics and furniture. Just by drawing a line. With your finger.
Fluid Interfaces – a branch of MIT’s media lab – is making it that simple. They’ve created the Reality Editor, a platform that “manipulates the functionality of physical objects”. But what does that mean exactly?
Well, for example, pointing the Reality Editor at a lamp and drawing a line to it will let you control it wirelessly. And if you want to link that lamp to a timer, just pick another object that has time-telling functionality (like your TV) and draw a line from that to the lamp.
If that isn’t clear enough, their nifty video demonstrates it beautifully. It could make the on/off switch a thing of the past.
