Apparently 70% of design students are women, yet 60% of the industry is male. With this is mind, an organisation has sprung up in London called Birdwatching, with a mission to ‘promote and celebrate the work of female graphic designers and creators around the globe’. (Cheers, Abi.)
They’re launching their website this month, so in the meantime there’s the blog – featuring 200 top graphic design birds in the world. The common aim is to connect, support and promote female graphic designers everywhere – by initiating dialogue, curating showcases and arranging participatory activities. They organise talks and events, highlight role models and reveal mentors, scout for new talent worldwide and create opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-transfers and recognition.
