4Food, a new organic fast food restaurant, will open on July 6 in New York. Which is cool. What’s arguably even cooler is its use of web-based technologies. Customers are encouraged to place their orders online and are given customisation options to create – and name – unique menu items, which if picked for the store, earns customers $.25 worth of store credit for each sale. To complete the techie theme, 4Food will feature a 240 sq.ft. monitor that will stream Foursquare check-ins, Tweets and restaurant info, while its staff take orders on iPads. The workforce is made up of people from New York City’s work displacement program.
