Ever remember sipping back a Heineken at a festival and thinking it tasted better? Well, it probably did. It turns out that multi-sensory information, such as sound, shape, and colour, really does effect how much you enjoy a drink.
To get the most from your pint, we recommend listening to a track that goes with your tipple. In a study by Dr. Felipe Reinoso Carvalho, at Vrije Universiteit, Brussels, participants who listened to the Editors, whilst drinking from ale bottles that were designed in line with the band’s look, had a much better time.
“We’ve been able to see that people tend to feel more pleasure when experiencing beverages along with sound that are part of the beverage’s identity,” explains Carvalho. “The added pleasure the song brought to the experience was transferred into the beer’s flavour.”
In future, companies looking to brand a beverage that offers a real experience, may want to think about hitting some beats before they hit the bottles.
