Google’s online art gallery offers VR viewing without the headset.
The latest upgrade to Google’s Tilt Brush means that 3D creations by VR artists can now be viewed online in the sketch gallery, without the need for a VR headset.
While this latest initiative is focused on artwork, essentially providing a gallery for 3D artists’ work, there’s a bigger picture. The ambition is ultimately to create a platform that allows any user to create 3D content that can then be viewed on the web.
Of course, Google isn’t the only company interested in this space. The augmented reality platforms being pushed by companies like Snap and Facebook are reliant on the creation of cool 3D content that users can place in their world and see in a new light.
For now though, just take off the goggles and enjoy the view.
