Don’t you just hate it when you buy something online, to find out that you could have gotten a better deal nipping around the corner to your local shops? Well, in India, there’s an app for that.
Yellow Messenger lets users chat with local shop owners on their smart phones, and compare prices with major e-commerce sites.
For 2016, Indian e-commerce is set to grow around 67%, but most people still prefer the experience of going to the shops. Yellow Messenger saw this as an opportunity to drive sales, by bridging the gap between online and offline retail.
The app makes commission from all transactions it sets up, and offers businesses subscriptions for marketing their products and services.
Since launching, Yellow Messenger has been downloaded from Google play 30,000 times. Most of its users are in major cities, such as Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
