RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of their accounts. You’re a positive and driven individual who is enthusiastic for the success of your team and the client relationships you manage. You’re great at prioritizing daily objectives and driving the timely delivery of work, ensuring success for both client and agency. This is the ideal role for someone who is great at building client relationships and a pro at driving all aspects of the account forward. You will be great at:

Client Relationships

  • Maintain and build great client relationships
  • Meet daily/weekly with clients to progress account and project activity and to identify road-blockers or potential issues ahead. You will develop and maintain client status reports and own/run client status meetings
  • Collect, share and act upon feedback from the client to demonstrate understanding and to build satisfaction and recognition of accountability and agency value
  • Actively lead and participate in client reviews, control and run client meetings (e.g. set up expectations for the call and what’s to follow and to be vocal in discussions on specific materials you are responsible for, ensuring we hit our meeting objectives)
  • Utilize your experience to respond to situations and where possible to free up the time and involvement of more senior members of the Account team

 
Design & Strategy

  • Develop and lead context briefings, feeding in business / client / research / account information and requirements
  • Develop an understanding of design and its relevance to the defined strategy so you can speak articulately about it to other team members, senior leadership and clients
  • Review and critique work in a constructive manner before it leaves the studio and ensure that the work output matches the client’s brief, Elmwood’s standards, is proofread and is in line with necessary legal and regulatory requirements
  • Challenge client thinking when appropriate in line with design objectives and core creative idea(s)
  • Champion and demonstrate passion for the agency’s output

 
Delivery

  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills to effectively manage project plans and requirements
  • Ensure senior account team members and practice leads are aware of all critical client deadlines to enable them to support you in prioritizing work
  • Set up and ask questions in client briefings/briefs and draft proposals/SOWs for approval by your senior account director
  • Take ownership of all your accounts, referring to senior account leadership when necessary / appropriate
  • Brief appropriate agency team members on assigned projects
  • Manage, maintain and update project tracking tools (e.g. job creation, slack updates, server file management, project progress reports, client ftp/file server) on a weekly basis
  • Collect all needed project details / files / information from clients prior to project kickoffs and store on server and share to slack channels
  • Develop project timelines and monitor progress, navigating obstacles that arise and ensuring timely delivery
  • Work with resourcing manager to assist in weekly pre-planning and provide vigilance of the work needed in the days/weeks ahead
  • Collect, create and maintain resource/reference files to assist agency teams on assigned projects
  • Set up all client/team reviews and meetings ensuring all team members are where they need to be at the right time
  • Take notes on all client calls to capture major meeting points and action items for team attendees and non-attendees to have clarity on all next steps
  • Take client feedback throughout the development process and act as an intermediary between client and agency throughout the project
  • Ensure that both internal and external stakeholders involved in your projects are informed of all developments, including time, budget and delivery issues, at every stage of the process
  • Identify opportunities to improve agency process and optimize profitability  
  • Create and drive forward freelance/specialist sub-projects ensuring communication with our internal team, and create and manage timeline(s) within the larger client project

Team

  • Build and foster good relationships with all internal team members across functions
  • Encourage teamwork and good communication, and be vigilant to instances that need special attention and navigation
  • Refer to senior team members for advice and support
  • Know how to activate teams towards positive and strategic outcomes
  • Proactively support your manager and senior cross-function team members, suggesting new ideas and asking the right questions at the right time

Financial

  • Ensure the commercial success of the account by managing project budgets in-line with SOW parameters, and alerting Senior Account leadership when risk a factor
  • Work with accounting to draft and deliver invoices in a timely way
  • Update financial tracking tools (e.g. identify pipeline and recognition breakdowns, invoice trackers
  • Ensure POs are created and received ahead of project kickoff
