The morning commute is sometimes the only time you have to lose yourself in a good book. Recognising this, the Chicago Transit Authority is planning to provide books on its trains through its Books on the L lending program.
Passengers help themselves from a selection of titles available on board. When they reach their stop, they leave their chosen book behind for the next passenger to enjoy. Travellers are also encouraged to share their favourite reads with fellow bibliophiles through Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #BooksOnTheL. A great way to get people reading, but be careful – if you pick up Garth Risk Hallberg’s monumental debut ‘City on Fire’ you could end up going round for days.
