Levi creates a robot laser to make manufacturing jeans easier and more efficient
Levi has launched a robot laser that can create its signature distressed and washed denim jeans instead of human employees.
The technology – called F.L.X. (future-led execution) – aims to simultaneously cut down on chemical waste and trim profit margins. And, as well as saving money and time, it also creates a safer production line for workers exposed to the most harmful substances.
According to Spanish industrial laser specialists Jeanologia, the robot laser will reduce the finishing time on a pair of jeans to just 90 seconds. It’s also a step forward in Levi’s commitment to achieving zero discharge of hazardous chemicals by 2020.
